we go hiking in the pyrenees!
not only was it beautiful and very tiring, but we made a friend along the way. her name is ela and she is from romania. we picked her up as she was walking up the road to a little village that is halfway up the mountains. she camped with us one night and then we hiked with her for awhile the next day.
after we had parted ways with ela, we hiked through a mountain pass with all our gear to a lake that is situated between three peaks. after a windy and very chilly night (we hiked through a couple snow fields to get there) we packed up our gear and explored the two shepherds cabins that were on the other side of the lake. they were super cute and guess what?!?
THEY WERE OPEN! AVAILABLE! WARM! NO WIND! WITH WOOD AND A STOVE! INSIDE! WITH WATER RIGHT OUTSIDE THE HOUSE!
yeah, it's true. we made a little fire with all the brushwood we could find, took a bath in the stream, and spent the night curled up in a tent, using only one sleeping bag because our other one wasn't warm enough, trying to ignore the wind, when we could have slept indoors. oh well. honestly, i'm kind of glad we didn't realize that till the morning. it would have felt like we were cheating or something. and there's just something about sleeping in a tent that you just can't beat. anyways, i hope you like the pictures and God's beautiful creation as much as we did.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the

pray that the people we know and love would see and hear not only the praise of creation for its Creator, but would see, hear, listen, and understand our praise and the Good News as we live here in basque country.
